Description

Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge with Money Bag Painting Original Art (c. 1971). Getting permission from the Walt Disney Company to create (and sell) paintings of Donald Duck and his clan was not an easy task, even for Carl Barks, the man responsible for many years of memorable comic book stories featuring all the Duck characters. In appreciation to those who helped him secure this rare privilege, Barks created several small portraits of Uncle Scrooge as gifts. This is one of those small oil on Masonite paintings; in fact, he noted on the backside, "To: Tony Sanguino in grateful appreciation -- Carl Barks." This beautiful little portrait measures approximately 5" x 7", and is housed in an 8" x 10" frame. The art is in Very Good condition, with two pinpoint areas of paint loss located near the lower left corner, close to the frame edge. From the Kerby Confer Collection.
