Description

Pep Comics #24 (MLJ, 1942) CGC VF- 7.5 Cream to off-white pages. This copy is tied with one other for the top spot on CGC's census, and we still haven't come across one with a higher grade. Interestingly, a date stamp on its cover reads "Dec 24 1941", indicating it was on stands during or shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It contains one of Archie Andrew's earliest appearances, published shortly after his debut in issue #22. Coach Cleats also appears. The cover is by Irv Novick, and it features the Shield and the Hangman battling Japanese soldiers. Story art is by Novick, Bob Montana, and Paul Reinman. CGC notes, "Olympia Collection." Overstreet 2024 VF 8.0 value = $7,400. CGC census 8/25: 2 in 7.5, none higher.
