Description

Roy G. Krenkel Pirates of Venus Paperback Cover Painting Original Art (Ace Books, 1963). A bird-man carries off the beautiful Duare on the cover of the Edgar Rice Burroughs tale of high adventure on the second planet from the Sun. This painting by Krenkel was inspired by J. Allen St. John's dust jacket illustration for the 1934 Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. first edition hardcover. A rare offering from Krenkel created in gouache/watercolor on illustration board with an image area of 10.25" x 15.25". Slight toning, paper overlay taped on the back, with light soiling/staining and handling wear. In Very Good condition. Comes with a copy of the published book.
