Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "Walking Small" Plankton Production Cel Setup with "Plankton!" Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1999/2000). "NO!" One-off character turned main recurring villain, Plankton is presented in this superb original setup featuring a production cel from Episode 18's "Walking Small" paired with a Master background from Episode 3's eponymous "Plankton!" of Nickelodeon's fan-favorite series SpongeBob SquarePants. This beloved series was one of the last Nicktoons to premiere in the 1990s, and the only one of the decade still airing with a total of 15 seasons and counting though only the first season was traditionally cel animated. Writer and voice actor Doug Lawrence played a critical role in Plankton evolving from his initial (and originally intended only) appearance in his titular July 17, 1999 segment debut through his final Season 1 appearance in "Walking Small" on March 22, 2000 and beyond, with the Plankton officially billed as a main cast member in the 2004 feature film. Here he can be spotted near the 4:45 timestamp of "Walking Small" furiously disappointed at SpongeBob's kindness with the Master background featuring his research kitchen in the back of the Chum Bucket spotted near the 9:40 timestamp of his titular Episode 3 segment, both when viewed individually online. Hand-painted to a grand half-figure, he spans the 12 field cel with a character size of 6.5" x 7.25". The Master background is hand-painted in gouache on background board measuring approximately 14" x 10.5" overall; both the cel and background bear production codes in the lower right. Background artists for Episode 3 include Andy 'Spike' Clark and Calvin G. Liang. With typical handling and edge wear including minor linework wear with evidence of restoration, overall this memorable villain is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
