Description

SpongeBob SquarePants "Arrgh!" Mr. Krabs with Treasure Chest Production Cel Setup with "Ripped Pants" Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1999/2000). "What 'shares'?! Yer not gettin any of MY treasure! I'm the captain and I say, it's Mine!" Mr. Krabs' greed gets the better of him in this forceful original setup featuring a production cel from Episode 17's "Arrgh!" paired with a Master background from Episode 2's "Ripped Pants" of the iconic Nicktoon SpongeBob SquarePants. This long-running Nickelodeon original debuted in 1999 with a traditionally cel animated first season before transitioning to digital for the next 14 (and counting!) seasons. "Arrgh!" debuted on March 15, 2000 and saw Mr. Krabs become utterly obsessed with SpongeBob's Flying Dutchman's Treasure Hunt board game while "Ripped Pants" aired the previous year on July 17th following SpongeBob trying to make the best of a bad situation at the beach. When their respective segments are viewed online, pirate captain Mr. Krabs is seen attempting to wrestle the treasure chest from SpongeBob and Patrick near the 10:26 timestamp while the sandy beach background is spotted near the 6:47 timestamp though several similar sand backgrounds are seen throughout its segment. Hand-painted to full-figure though partially obscured by the massive chest, Mr. Krabs stands at 4" within the expansive full image area of 10.25" x 6.5" which includes the hand-inked drag marks. The Master background is hand-painted in gouache on background board measuring approximately 13.75" x 10.5" overall; both the cel and background bear production codes along the lower edge. Background artists for Episode 2 include Andy 'Spike' Clark and Calvin G. Liang. With typical handling and edge wear, overall this greedy faux captain is in Very Good condition.
