Description

Quisp Cereal Television Commercial Production Cel and Production Background (Jay Ward/Quaker Oats, c. 1970s-80s). Quisp levitates down to the farm where the corn and oats are grown for his sweet, saucer-shaped cereal in this original hand-inked and hand-painted production cel. Saturday morning just wasn't the same watching cartoons without this kind of sugar-sweetened crunchy breakfast staple, and kids would get "quazy energy" from eating both Quisp and its "rival," Quake (both cereals were usually advertised together). Quisp is holding a box of his cereal (the box image is a print affixed to the cel); his approximate image size sans box is 1.5" x 2.75". The gouache on board tractor background is from an unidentified Jay Ward production. The cel and background have an overall size of 14.5" x 10.5", and the condition is Very Good to Fine with light handling and minor edge wear on the background painting.
