Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "The Paper" SpongeBob and Squidward Production Cel (Nickelodeon, 2000). "Watch this! Guess what I am!" SpongeBob's imagination is out in full force, completely shocking Squidward in this original multilayer production cel from the Season 1 segment "The Paper" of his titular Nickelodeon series. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by former marine science teacher Stephen Hillenburg and made its debut in the summer of 1999. This mega-popular Nicktoon is the network's longest running original cartoon series with season 14 airing and 15 in currently production, though only the first season was traditionally cel animated. "The Paper" aired as the second segment of episode 16 in February of 2000, and saw SpongeBob's humorous escapades with Squidward's discarded gum wrapper, much to his neighbor's annoyance. The characters in this frame appear at different points in the segment with SpongeBob spotted early on near the 2:43 mark of the segment when viewed online, and Squidward appearing at the end near the 9:14 mark just before he offers SpongeBob the shirt off his back in trade to have his wrapper returned. Both full-figured and hand-painted, Squidward measures 2.5" x 4" and SpongeBob, who is partially hand-inked, measures 2.75" x 3". The 12 field multilayer cel bears production codes in the lower righthand corners of each layer and has been placed on a print background for display purposes; a CoA is also included. With typical studio handling and wear including minor surface wear/debris, minor linework wear with areas of restoration, pinpoint spots of paint loss on Squidward's eyes, and faint color bleed paint wear to SpongeBob's shirt and the paper, overall this creative cel is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
