Description

Dudley Do-Right RARE Production Cels and Nell Fenwick Color Model Cel and Drawing Group of 5 (Jay Ward, 1959). "But Nell, why won't you marry me?" "Because you're too good, Dudley!" The quotes are from "The Disloyal Canadians," the first installment of Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties which first aired in 1959 as a segment on the eleventh episode of Rocky and His Friends. For you loyal do-righters out there, this group of original hand-inked and hand-painted cels of Dudley and Nell and a color model drawing of Nell are some rare treasures. They come from the personal archives of Sam Clayberger, who worked for Jay Ward Productions as a background artist and color stylist. Smiling Dudley stands up straight with his arms in back in an original 12 field two-level production cel. The second level has Dudley's eyes, and there are two extra hand-inked and hand-painted eye cels that fit with the Dudley cel. Dudley's image size is approximately 3" x 5.25". Inspector Fenwick's apple-cheeked daughter Nell is on an original 12 field color model cel, with an image size of 2" x 4.5". A matching 12 field color drawing of Nell is included, rendered in blue pencil with graphite and green pencil highlights; the image is noted as N-1 Held, meaning a reusable pose. All color call-out notes are written in black ink. The items are in overall Very Good condition with minor handing wear.
From the Archive of Sam Clayberger and Michael Kadin.
