Description

Rocky and Bullwinkle "Message in a Bottle" Animation Drawing (Jay Ward, c. 1960s-90s). "Fan mail from some flounder?" asks Bullwinkle when Rocky pulls a bottle with a message out of the ocean in one of the show's famous bumper scenes! In the original series, Rocky would pull out the message and hold it up to the camera, only for it to be revealed as a page full of meaningless scribbles (which would quickly lead to a commercial or another show segment). This excellent drawing differs a bit from that original animation, with Rocky's rowboat shown from a slightly different perspective. This may have been a layout drawing from the show's original run, or intended for a post-series commercial, as there were several different ad campaigns featuring Moose and Squirrel in the 1970s-90s. The art is in blue and red pencil on a sheet of 12 field animation paper; the image size is approximately 9" x 4.5" and is marked Sc. 18 in the lower right corner. The condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
