Description

Mickey's Service Station Mickey, Donald Duck, and Goofy Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1935). Mickey, Goofy, and Donald are so inept at being auto mechanics, they even make the Three Stooges look good! Here's a great original layout drawing of the moment gangster Pete returns for his car and Mickey accidentally pulls the door off. Although the filmed scene (as seen at the 6:49 mark in online viewings) features only Mickey and Pete, this drawing also includes Goofy and Donald, making this a rare image with all four principle players! Mickey's Service Station was directed by Ben Sharpsteen and first shown in theaters on 3/16/35. It would be the final black and white appearances of Goofy and Donald, and the next-to-last black and white Mickey short (Mickey's Kangaroo would be the final Golden Age Mickey cartoon in B&W). This trimmed layout drawing is in graphite with red pencil; the left side of the art with Goofy and Donald is on separate paper that has been affixed by the studio artist to the larger piece. The art is nicely matted with a title plaque; the mat has an opening size of 9" x 5.75", and overall size of 17.25" x 14". In Good condition with handling wear, edge tears (under the mat), and age-related paper toning.
