Description

Mickey's Fire Brigade Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1935). Mickey Mouse struggles with the firehose in this kinetic sequence of five original animation drawings from the Ben Sharpsteen-directed theatrical short Mickey's Fire Brigade, released on 8/3/1935. This beloved classic cartoon follows the trio of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in their slapstick attempts to stop an apartment fire. Created for the moments seen at the 2:17 mark of the film, these drawings capture the memorable gag in which Mickey is thrown by the force of water through the hose. This rare action sequence is rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field animation paper, and the drawings range in size from 4.25" x 2.5" to 8" x 5.75". Two sheets have two pegholes, and three have five (the studio made the switch in 1935). An exciting find for any animation historian, these drawings show minor handling and edge wear with a small tear in one peghole. Light age-related toning, and the condition overall is Very Good.
