The debut entry in Capcom's Dino Crisis series was created by the same development team behind Resident Evil, led by legendary director Shinji Mikami. Players stepped into the role of special agent Regina, dispatched to a remote research facility where a top-secret experiment has unleashed a deadly outbreak of dinosaurs. Unlike Resident Evil's pre-rendered backgrounds, Dino Crisis utilized fully 3D, real-time environments-an impressive technical leap for its time. Capcom described the game as "panic horror," reflecting the speed and cunning of its dinosaur adversaries and distinguishing it from traditional survival-horror fare. The inclusion of a Resident Evil 3 demo made the release even more attractive for fans.
