Description

Charlotte's Web Production Pan Background (Hanna-Barbera, 1973). This film was one of Hanna-Barbera Studio's few forays into the feature film market. While it debuted to modest success, this animated adaptation of E. B. White's book developed such a devoted following that 20 years later it became one of the best-selling VHS tapes of 1994. It opened in New York City and featured music by the Sherman Brothers of Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Jungle Book fame. This is an original one-of-a-kind hand-painted pan production background of the exterior of Wilbur's barn and pigpen which can be seen at the 10:52 mark in the film. It is painted in gouache on 26.75" x 10.5" watercolor background paper and has production number 97-4 and SEQ-2 BG-12 handwritten along the upper right border in between the pegholes. It's a beautifully detailed and brightly colored painting from an enduring family favorite. The piece has been folded in two places leaving bends in the paper and slight creasing. It exhibits edge wear, handling, pinholes and a few scratches in the paint. Good condition.
