Description

The Dognapper Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Animation Drawings Sequence of 22 (Walt Disney, 1934). It's a wild ride for motorcycle cops Mickey and Donald as they find themselves spinning out of control in this incredible sequence of drawings from their first appearance together. This frantic scene occurs around two minutes into this early David Hand-directed short. The Dognapper was first cartoon to team Mickey with Donald and the second of only three appearances by Donald in black and white. These images of Mickey and the very rare long-billed version of Donald are rendered in graphite with red and green pencil effects on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper and measure in an approximate range of 7" x 2.5" to 10" x 5". Each of the 22 sequential drawings is numbered in the lower right corner and include 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 18, 19, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 41, 44, and 45. Twenty two consecutive production drawings makes this an impressive vintage Mickey and Donald collection all by itself. Each drawing shows light toning, edge wear, and drawing number 4 has a large tear in the left corner not near the art which has been repaired with paper tape; otherwise, condition of the lot is Very Good.
