Description

Mickey's Mellerdrammer Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1933). This original sequence of 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings features Mickey donning a costume to perform in a barnyard production of "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Wilfred Jackson directed this rarely-seen black and white short, which was released to theaters on 3/18/33. These images of Mickey putting on fake "pickaninny" hair and blackface, a depiction long out of touch in today's cultural climate, is nevertheless an important historical artifact. The graphite drawings have figure sizes that average 3.5" to 5" tall, each with Mickey's feet out of frame. The drawings are numbered 127, 134, 142, and 156. Condition is Very Good with typical handling and edge wear including a small tear at the top left of drawing 127, faint corner creasing, and light age-related paper toning.
