Description

Gene Colan and Jon D'Agostino Archie's Pals 'n' Gals #188 Story Page 4 Original Art (Archie Enterprises, 1988). His 1987-1991 hitch with the Archie titles makes for a fascinating contrast with Colan's larger identification with supernatural horror (from Creepy to Tomb of Dracula) and superheroic adventure (Daredevil and Sub-Mariner and beyond) -- but then, Colan was foremost a versatile working artist, capable of making any genre his own. He proves ideally suited here to the Archie books' resident wiseguy, Reggie Mantle, who proves as arrogant as ever when appearing on a Love Connection-type television program. D'Agostino's rounded inks capture the Archie house style. The angular cinematic compositions and droll facial expressions are pure Colan. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Excellent condition.
