Description
My Little Pony: Escape from Catrina Oversized Background Color Key Paintings Group of 2 (Hasbro/Marvel, 1985). "My little pony, my little pony - Hope your problems are few!" The second My Little Pony special pitted the ponies against evil feline witch Catrina. This special aired before the series began; it would later be re-edited and retitled "Escape from Katrina" as the final two episodes in the 1985-87 series. Here are two larger-than-usual Color Key paintings of Catrina's lavish palace; these are preliminary background images created during the early production of the special. Background artists on the special included Bob Kline, Lonnie Lloyd, Bob Smith, Martin Strudler, and Dennis Venizelos. Both Color Keys are pan images, painted in gouache on illustration board; the first shows a large pool filled with green Witch Weed water; it has an image size of approximately 14" x 8.5". The second painting shows a grand staircase and a huge golden chandelier, with an image size of 13.5" x 8.5". Both Color Keys are painted in gouache on illustration board measuring 17" x 11.5". Condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.Auction Info
