Description

The Lord of the Rings Samwise and Gandalf Production Cel (Ralph Bakshi, 1978). From Ralph Bakshi's ambitious adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, this is an incredibly rare original production cel depicting Samwise Gamgee and the wizard Gandalf. Created long before Peter Jackson's celebrated films, 1978's The Lord of the Rings was the first attempt at translating the epic tale to film. Bakshi's interpretation met with significant success on its release, and it remains an undeniable classic. Sam and Gandalf are hand-painted at 3.5" x 5.25" on the 12 field cel, and the piece is numbered 163 in the lower right corner. The cel is matted with a window size of 11.5" x 9" and an overall mat size of 18" x 14". Minor handling and edge wear, and the condition is Very Good.
