Description

Touchdown Mickey Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1932). Football quarterback Mickey is having a tough time on the gridiron, and he's about to get an unwanted addition to his uniform in this rare sequence of three original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings. Wilfred Jackson directed the short, which capitalized on the nation's craze for college football; it was released on 10/15/32. Here's the setup for this sequence: in the final seconds of a tied game between Mickey's Manglers vs. the Alley Cats, the ball has gotten away and heads for the stand, where it hits a spectator and takes away his false teeth, glasses, and toupee. Beginning at the 5:29 mark, we see Mickey face down in the mud, as the ball knocks him back down, leaving the wig, glasses, and teeth on Mickey's backside, giving him a second "face" at the 5:30 mark. The drawings are rendered with graphite on three sheets of 12 field animation paper, and they are numbered in their lower right corners with 17A, 19, and 21A. These funny pieces are in Very good condition, with minor handling and edge wear, including minor smudging and age-related toning.
