Description
The Black Cauldron Taran and Gurgi Color Model Cels and Storyboard Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1985). "Great prince give poor starving Gurgi munchings and crunchings!" When Hen Ren runs ahead of him into the forest, Taran takes off after him, only to encounter little Gurgi, who immediately swipes the apple Taran had for his pig! This happens at about the 13:02 mark in the film. Here are original trimmed, hand-painted color model cels for both assistant pig-keeper Taran, and for his pesky new "partner" Gurgi, based on animation drawings by Andreas Deja, plus original storyboard drawings of both. Taran's cel has a nice large image, measuring approximately 5.5" x 7.75" within an 11" x 14" mat with an opening of 7.5" x 9.5". Taran is in close-up in the small storyboard drawing, in graphite on paper measuring 6.75" x 4.75". In the second trimmed color model cel, Gurgi is holding his "munchings and crunchings" apple, which causes him to jump around for joy, as seen at the 13:07 mark; his full figure image is 3.5" x 5.5" inside a 14" x 11" mat with an opening of 9.5" x 7.5". The storyboard drawing shows Gurgi running away ("Uh, oh, trouble... goodbye!"), in graphite on paper measuring 10.5" x 4.75". Excellent images of two prime players in this deliciously dark Disney fantasy! Condition overall is Very Good to Fine, with minor handling and tack holes in the drawings.Auction Info
