Description

John Cullen Murphy Prince Valiant #2344 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-10-82 (King Features Syndicate, 1982). Tensions in the Mideast threaten the peace of Camelot, and Prince Valiant and Sir Gawain set out to explore the River Nile for signs of unrest. The episode (primarily scenic) ends with an ominous warning of trouble ahead. Murphy had by now asserted creative control over Harold R. Foster's classic feature, having assisted Foster since an audition period in 1970 and then having officially succeeded Foster in 1979. The script here is likely the work of Murphy's son, John Cullen, Jr. Ink over graphite on conjoined sections of Bristol board. Image area, 13.25" x 19.5". The light-toned boards show minor handling wear and a few intrusive blue-pencil editorial markings. Very Good condition.
