Walter Berndt Smitty Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-15-49 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1949). Herby, kid brother of title character Smitty, becomes overconfident while playing football. A brilliantly composed episode, with a propulsive momentum that seems to move the reader's eyes as rapidly as Herby is running. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 19.5" x 6". Excellent condition, with light toning and handling wear.From the Bobby G. Murphy Collection.
