Description

Leo O'Mealia Sherlock Holmes #E-6 "Holmes Takes the Trail" Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-12-30 (Bell Syndicate, 1930). A clue at last! Inspector Forrester hands Holmes a torn fragment found at the murder scene, and it's just the spark needed. In the final panel, Holmes springs to life with renewed vigor -- no sign of his recent illness, just the legendary detective back in action and energized as ever. This installment comes from the 25-part serial "The Reigate Puzzle", adapted from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1893 story "The Adventure of the Reigate Squire". Part of the pioneering 1930s run, this strip belongs to the first ever Sherlock Holmes comic strip adaptation to appear in American newspapers. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 20.5" x 6". Toning, smudging, marginal pinholes, stat text paste-ups with adhesive staining, minor soiling, corner creasing, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
