Leo O'Mealia Sherlock Holmes #E-25 "The Letter That Cost a Life" Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-4-30 (Boston Globe, 1930). Sherlock brings the case to a close, revealing how he unraveled the murder of William Kirwan and disclosing the secret of the torn papers in this final strip from the 25-part serial "The Reigate Puzzle". Adapted from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1893 story "The Adventure of the Reigate Squire", this installment comes from the groundbreaking 1930s run, the first Sherlock Holmes comic strip to appear in American newspapers, and concludes with a tease for the next mystery, "The Naval Treaty". Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 20.5" x 6". Toning, stat text paste-ups with adhesive staining, toned handwritten letter paste-up, smudging/soiling, production oil and glue residue staining, missing copyright paste-up in final panel, minor edge creasing, marginal pinholes, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
