Description

Dan Spiegle Space Family Robinson: Lost in Space on Space Station One #44 Story Page 13 Original Art (Gold Key/Western Publ., 1975). An early example of metafiction -- the self-conscious development of a new narrative from a familiar old literary source -- is Space Family Robinson, a long-running takeoff on Johann Wyss' castaway-adventure novel of 1812, Swiss Family Robinson. The SF-adventure franchise is better known nowadays as Lost in Space. This sequence finds Spiegle exploring the cruelties of nature as castaway explorers encounter indigenous wildlife. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". Excellent condition.
