Description

Al Capp Li'l Abner Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-14-40 (United Feature Syndicate, 1940). First brought to life in 1934 as a jab to Capp's former boss (Joe Palooka cartoonist Ham Fisher), Abner quickly caught hold as a transmedia success -- comics, movies, and even Broadway. This daily offers a defining example of Capp's bold, smooth line, and of his captivating use of wordplay. Originally used for the 9-14-1940 daily and later reprinted in 7-21-1948. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22" x 5.75". Moderate edge toning, corner and edge wear, light adhesive residue, missing publication year and there are two separate dates. In Very Good condition.
