Description

Bottom's Dream Flying Horse Production Cel/Drawing Signed by John Canemaker (1983). A galloping horse is engulfed in flames, in this original combination hand-painted 12 field cel and blue ink drawing, from Academy Award-winning American independent animator and animation historian John Canemaker. Mr. Canemaker's experimental animation can be seen in episodes of Sesame Street, various television commercials, and Garp's childhood drawings come to life in the 1982 live-action film The World According to Garp. Bottom's Dream uses Shakespeare's donkey-headed character from A Midsummer Night's Dream as a jumping-off point in a series of transitional images; see this image at about the 1:52 mark in the short film. The flames are painted on the cel, but the drawing on paper is part of the animation. The combined image size is approximately 9" x 7.25". The cel is hand-signed in silver ink. Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear.
