Description

The Black Cauldron Captured by the Horned King Storyboards Group (Walt Disney, 1985). "My, such a brave and handsome crew! A pig-boy, a scullery maid, and broken-down minstrel!" The Horned King "welcomes" his captives Taran, Princess Eilonwy, and Fflewddur Fflam, in this sequence of six original storyboard drawings by David Jonas (1926 - 2014). Primarily working as an illustrator, Mr. Jonas briefly studied Pre-Med before switching to a film art career; in addition to his work on this Disney film, he produced production illustrations for such live-action films as Back to the Future Part II, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Empire of the Sun. The quality of these storyboard drawings is excellent; rough but loaded with detail. Art is in graphite on paper for five of the drawings, with one drawing of Creeper, the Horned King's goblin sidekick, in graphite, ink, watercolor, and color pencils. Paper size varies from 8.75" to 12" wide, and 5" tall. The drawings are mounted 2-up on sheets of heavyweight blue paper measuring 14" x 11". Condition is Very Good, with minor handling wear.
