Description
The Great Mouse Detective Basil of Baker Street and Dr. David Q. Dawson Production Cel Setup (Walt Disney, 1986). "It's elementary, my dear Dawson," quips Basil, right before he aims his revolver at Dawson jokingly. This moment, found at about the 8:31 mark of The Great Mouse Detective, come from Basil and Dawson's first meeting. This fantastic original, hand-painted production cel setup depicts Basil cocking his gun as Dawson frightfully realizes what the mouse is doing. The full-figure images of Dawson and Basil measure about 5" and 6" tall respectively. The Great Mouse Detective is credited with setting the stage for the Disney Renaissance, as it was the success the company needed to revive its trust in its animation department. The setup is composed of two laminated 16 field cels which are labeled in their lower right corners with B20 and D15. The top cel bears a Walt Disney seal on its lower right corner. The setup is matted, with a matboard aperture of 13" x 8" and an overall mat size of 18" x 14". This incredibly cool setup is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear, as well as minor cel rippling.Auction Info
