Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Usagi Yojimbo with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Master Splinter, and Obento Production Cel and Animation Drawing Group of 232 (Murakami-Wolf-Swenson, c. 1987-96). "My name is Usagi Yojimbo. I am a ronin, a masterless samurai." Appearing only in the season 3 episodes "Usagi Yojimbo" and "Usagi Come Home", cottontail ally to the Turtles, Usagi Yojimbo is featured prominently in this downright colossal lot of original production cel sequences from the 1989 animated debut series of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Frequently ranked among the greatest animated shows of all time, the prolific franchise was born of a comic created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Presented as six separate sequences composed of both production cels and animation drawings, this lot includes some great images of the minor recurring character who was mistakenly given the same name as the title of his original comic Usagi Yojimbo in this series instead of his actual character name, Miyamoto Usagi. He is pictured both in solo sequences and also alongside all four Turtles with Splinter as well as with Obento who also appears only in the Usagi episodes. Across all images in this lot character sizes range from partial figures of just Usagi's mouth at approximately 0.25" x 0.25" to him full-figured with swords drawn at 8" x 4.75", including one cel sequence of over 50 frames! The cels have each been skillfully hand-painted on acetate and the drawings rendered in graphite and colored pencils on animation paper. Many of the drawings have adhered to the cels, some drawings show wear from previous adhesion removal. Debris, minor creases, small tears, paint wear/loss, and surface scuffing are present. With typical handling and edge wear the drawings range from Fair to Good and the cels range from Fair to Very Good condition.More information about Murakami-Wolf-Swenson. See also: MWS Artist.
