Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-2-64 (Publishers Newspaper Syndicate, 1964). Al Jaffee, house artist with MAD Magazine since the late 1950s, revolutionized newspaper comic strips with his creation, Tall Tales. This distinctive feature was characterized by its slender, vertical layout, which set it apart from the more traditional, horizontally-oriented strips. Tall Tales often relied on visual storytelling rather than textual content, with this funny daily being a rare exception. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 2.75" x 10.25". Discolored stat logo paste-up, whiteout touch-ups, with light staining and handling wear. Initialed by Jaffee in the lower image area and in Excellent condition.Auction Info
