Description

Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-12-66 (Publishers Newspaper Syndicate, 1966). Jaffee re-thinks the old "he followed me home" gag in a big way -- big dog, little kid, astonished parent. Jaffee's innovative design for Tall Tales, in a narrow-vertical format, was unique among the newspapers' funnypapers spreads. Tall Tales ran during Jaffee's parallel ascent as a leading gagman with MAD, the humor magazine. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board, with an image area of 2.75" x 10.25". Slight toning, adhesive-stained title and syndicate stat paste-up, white-paint retouching, and handling wear. Very Good condition.
