Description

Hank Schlensker Buz Sawyer Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-21-77 (King Features Syndicate, 1977). Heroic Buz Sawyer finds himself falsely accused of trespassing. His accuser is a sleazy sort who appears to have some influence over the local authorities. Looks mighty tough for the hero. Nice on-model work from originator Crane's primary assistant, Schlensker, published shortly before Crane's death at age 75. (Crane had gradually relinquished the authorship of Buz Sawyer to his studio staff.) Ink over graphite on conjoined pieces of Duotone chemical-shading board. Image area, 15" x 4.5". Clean seams between the panels. Some chemical-shade blurring in the textured or crosshatched areas. Very Good condition.
