Description

Robert Crumb Oggie and the Beanstalk Unused Cover Original Art (1973). In the early 1960s, a nineteen-year-old Robert Crumb drew, "as an exercise," his first big comics creation -- a modern fairy tale about a cute little frog named Oggie. He called the finished product The Yum Yum Book, and presented it as a gift to his first serious girlfriend (and soon-to-be first wife), Dana Morgan. In 1973, Crumb prepared Yum Yum for publication, with a new title. Here's the original art for the front and back covers of this unused edition of the book (which was eventually published by Dana, under its original title). This cover is a bit unusual, in that Crumb used film sheets to add color to his black and white inked drawings. The art is on sketchbook paper, with an image area of approximately 11" x 7.5". The art shows a bit of wrinkling from the film, but otherwise, is in Excellent condition. From the Albert Morse, Esq. Collection.
