Description
Pokémon Moltres 146 Japanese Fossil Test Issue PSA Authentic (Media Factory, 1997). Before you can launch any type of product, it must first go through various stages to perfect it. And the Pokémon Trading Card Game was no different! The very first set from 1996, known as Expansion Pack in Japan and Base Set in English, had various rounds of prints which featured different designs and artwork. These test cards would continue to be created for following sets, to assure that every card printed in the official release would be the best it could be. Offered here for the very first time is one of these unique pieces of Pokémon history: a Japanese Fossil set Moltres test issue card! Moltres made its fist TCG appearance in the Fossil set, with artwork done by Mitsuhiro Arita. This test issue instead uses artwork by Ken Sugimori, which was used for the Tropical Mega Battle Phone Card, the Pokémon Trading Card Game video game, and the English Pokémon Red and Blue video games. This test card shows various printing errors, such as a very light "97" across Moltres' head as well as a horizontal strip near the bottom of the illustration box where the artwork is misaligned and miscolored. PSA has authenticated only 2 copies of this card. The sheer scarcity of these cards speaks volumes of how unique they are, and there's no saying when another copy will come up for public auction.
