Arthur Rackham The Zankiwank and the Bletcher Witch Page 17 Preliminary Illustration Original Art (Alpine House EC, 1896). Arthur Rackham's works have become very popular since his death, both in North America and Britain. He is widely regarded as one of the leading illustrators from the 'Golden Age' of British book illustration, and his images have been widely used by the greeting card industry and in popular classic literature tales. At just 29 years old, his first work was for the S.J. Adair Fitzgerald book The Zankiwank and the Bletcher Witch, offered here is a preliminary sketch from that book. Created in graphite on green paper, with an image area of image 6.5" x 7", matted to 14" x 15". There are loose sketches on the back, wear and small tears around edges, adhesive residue spots at top margin, corner missing and small hole on the bottom left corner. The art is taped to mat on left edge. In Very Good condition.
