The Fishing Bear "A Rudolf Ising Production" Title Production Cel and Animation Drawing (MGM, 1940). Rudolf Ising (1903 - 1992) was an animator on some of the earliest Disney cartoons, pre-Mickey; the Oswald cartoons directly after Disney; and working his his longtime business partner Hugh Harmon, he created Bosko for the very first Warner Brothers Looney Tunes shorts in 1930. In 1934, Harmon and Ising moved over to MGM, where Mr. Ising created Barney Bear. Here is the production credit for the Barney Bear cartoon The Fishing Bear, which was released to theaters on 1/20/1940. The credit line is painted in yellow ink on a 12 field animation cel; the image area measures approximately 7.75" x 2.75". The cel is placed on a sheet of blue paper for presentation purposes, and matted with an opening of 11" x 9.5". On the reverse side of the mat's backing board, the original graphite animation drawing of the "Rudolf Ising" name credit is included. The drawing is in Good condition with handling/edge wear and age-related paper toning. The cel is in Very Good condition with minor handling.
