Description

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas "He Whistled for Max" SOLD-OUT Max and the Grinch Limited Edition Cel #75/100 Signed by Chuck Jones (MGM, 1966/2000). "Then he loaded some bags and some old empty sacks on the ramshackle sled, and he whistled for Max." Poor Max thinks he's going for a ride, but he's actually about to pull the sleigh in this endearing 16 field limited edition cel from Chuck Jones' 1966 adaptation of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The special was released on 12/18/1966 and has long become a Christmas classic for multiple generations. Max was inspired by Jones' childhood fox terrier and the hand-painted limited edition cel immortalizes the moment at about 10:01 when the pup happily hops into the sleigh. It numbers 75 out of only 100 created and has now been sold-out for 25 years since its release in 2000. Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) signed it along the bottom edge. The characters and sacks measure about 13.75'' x 8'' in a 16'' x 9.75'' mat window and 22'' x 15.5'' mat, displayed on a print background for presentation purposes. You can find a Linda Jones seal in the lower left and the lot is accompanied by a Linda Jones COA. The lot is in Very Good condition with light handling wear - celebrate Christmas a little early and add it to your collection!
