Description

Bambi Concept/Story Art by Jules Engel (Walt Disney, 1942). From the planning stages of Disney's 1942 classic Bambi, we have in this lot an evocative concept/story drawing showcasing the aftermath of the forest fire by the painter, sculptor, and graphic artist, Jules Engel (1909 - 2003). Starting his work at Walt Disney in 1938, Engel is known for his involvement in the choreography for "The Nutcracker Suite" in Fantasia and was later assigned to work on Bambi. His work extended beyond Disney, remembered by many for his backgrounds on UPA's Gerald McBoing Boing. Featuring Bambi and his father witnessing the burned remains of the forest, masterfully rendered in ink wash, ink, and white paint, this striking image showcases a great image size of 8" x 5.75". The lot is offered on a glass-fronted 16.25" x 14.25" frame, signed by Engel on the bottom right area of the mat. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. In Very Good condition with minor handling wear from production.
