Description
One of Walt's Boys: An Insider's Account of Disney's Golden Years by Harry Tytle Limited Edition Hardcover Book #121/750 (A.S.A.P. Publishing, 1997). This book is from the limited edition of Harry Tytle's handsome, self-published account of the 40 years he worked in the Disney organization. It was published in an edition of only 750 copies; this is number 121 and it is numbered and signed by Mr. Tytle on the copyright page. It is illustrated in color and black-and-white with photographs and caricatures of Mr. Tytle by Disney artists. Harry Tytle began his 40-year Disney career in 1936 as a film cutter and assistant director, and over the years he wore many hats. He became production manager of cartoons in the 1940s and 1950s, and in the 1960s-70s, producer for a number of live-action theatrical films and television shows. Along the way he earned the unofficial title of "Walt's right-hand man." During those 40 years, Mr. Tytle kept an extensive diary of what he did and observed at the Studio, including notes on more than 200 meetings with Walt Disney. Those diary entries form the basis of this fascinating book. In the back of the book is a 20" x 16" fold-out reproduction of the studio's 1943 organization chart showing the various areas of responsibility throughout Walt Disney Productions. In addition, a pocket in the back of the book holds a reproduction of the 3-page typed WDP Inter-Office Communication from Mr. Tytle to Walt Disney for "possible formats and business for a 1965-66 Disneyland TV show" that would take viewers on a behind-the-scenes tour of Disneyland. Included is publisher's promotional brochure describing the book and its publication in three editions. The book is out of print and quite scarce. It's clothbound with a photograph mounted on the cover; 266 pages, and measures 8.75" x 11.25". In Fine condition.Auction Info
