Description

Toshio Suzuki Autobiography with Signature (Pia, 2005). Astonishingly rare and long out of print, this autobiography by the co-founder and former president of Studio Ghibli, Toshio Suzuki, would be an incredible addition to any Studio Ghibli collection. From the original Japanese printing, Suzuki writes about his own beginnings in the film industry and the struggle of the early Studio Ghibli days with the legendary animators Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. The title of the book roughly translates to English as Movie Hobby. A remarkably difficult book to find, it also bears the signature of Toshio Suzuki on the first page with a charming drawing of the susuwatari (soot sprites) from My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. A must-read look into the history of one of animation's most celebrated studios, the book shows minor handling, and its condition is Very Good.
