Description
TRON "Tron on Light Cycle" Ektachrome Continuous-Tone Transparency (Walt Disney, 1982). Here are two black and white Kodaliths (often referred to by TRON collectors as an Ektachromes). From the luminous realm of Disney's 1982 science fiction film TRON, this set features the heroic figure of Tron himself. Frozen in a moment of dynamic action, Tron is seen riding his Light Cycle. Every meticulous detail, from the intricate circuitry patterns on his iconic suit to the resolute determination etched onto his features evokes the futuristic aesthetics that have become synonymous with TRON. The film received the Academy Award® for Technical Achievement fourteen years after its initial release. To achieve the desired effect, actors and sets in TRON were initially photographed in black-and-white. These Kodaliths are enlarged from 65mm B&W fine-grain film, part of the original stage photography by DP Bruce Logan. Framed enlargements were placed over a light source and re-photographed through colored camera filters. The computers at the time could not do animation, so the frames had to be produced one by one. This transparency measures 20" x 12" with an image area of 19" x 8.5". It serves as a tribute to the film's groundbreaking visual effects and enduring legacy, inviting you to relive the awe-inspiring journey of a digital hero who transcended the confines of both reality and the silver screen.
