Description
TRON Game Grid Background Layout Negatives by Syd Mead Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1982). This is a rare group of four 8" x 10" background negatives for the game grid from the ground-breaking classic TRON by noted futurist Syd Mead (1933 - 2019). Mead was an industrial designer responsible for designing the Light Cycles, Light Tanks, Sark's Carrier, the MCP and the TRON typeface, as well as the Super Light Cycle and the Game Grid. He also designed vehicles and objects for the science-fiction films Blade Runner (1982), Aliens (1986), and Mission: Impossible III (2006). The black and white negatives come to auction from the collection of visual FX supervisor Harrison Ellenshaw. Ellenshaw was associate producer on TRON and head of Disney's special FX unit, Buena Vista Visual Effects. In the film, the Game Grid was a game simulation environment where programs fight in various gladiatorial-style games based on video games that Kevin Flynn personally designed while working at ENCOM. The negatives are in individual sleeves - presented in Fine condition.From the Harrison Ellenshaw Tron Collection.
