Description

Walt Disney World - Liberty Square "Liberty Tree" Hanging Lantern Prop (Walt Disney, c. 1980s-90s). Thirteen electric lanterns can be found hanging from the branches of an over 180 year old majestic Southern Live Oak in the Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square, paying homage to the original 13 colonies of the United States; offered in this lot is one such lantern. The colonial America-themed land known as Liberty Square is exclusive to the Magic Kingdom and is home to the living replica of Boston's historical Liberty Tree. The native Florida tree was already 130 years old, over 60ft tall, and weighed over 35 tons when it was relocated nearly 7 miles from the other side of Disney property to its current home of Liberty Square in 1971, a task that required a 100-ton crane. The hanging lantern offered in this lot measures approximately 9.5" x 22" x 7.25" crafted from decorative punched metal and glass panes featuring three faux candles with flame-flickering bulbs. It is made to appear vintage, and also shows signs of weathering from outdoor park use. Tested and working, however sold as-is. With expected handling and wear including oxidation of the metal frame, a missing side panel, repairs to the electrical cord, and general surface wear/debris, overall this colonial inspired piece is in Good condition.
