Description

George of the Jungle "Snow What" Tom Slick Production Cel and Master Painted Background (Jay Ward, 1967). A determined Tom drives his Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper (now converted into a snowmobile), in this VERY rare original hand-painted production cel and Master painted background setup. Tom is competing in the "Upper Crust Snowmobile Rally" in this fourth Tom Slick cartoon segment, originally shown on 9/30/1967 as part of the George of the Jungle animated series. Actual production cels from any Jay Ward series are considered rare, as most cels were washed and reused at Gamma Productions in Mexico, where most of Jay's cartoons were animated. This cel and production background setup features a cel seen at the 4:31 timestamp placed on a background from the 5:34 mark; the images of Tom and the spinning propeller were carefully trimmed other cels and affixed in position. The setup is trimmed and matted in a Jay Ward Productions Inc. 13" x 10" white mat with an aperture size of approximately 9" x 7". The mat indicated this was most likely sold at Jay's Dudley Do-Right Emporium gift shop located on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, CA. The Emporium operated from 1971 to 2005. The white mat has a couple of mild creases along the right side, and a slight corner crunch in the lower left. The trimmed cel and background are in Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
