Description

Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom Studio-Used Storyboard Print Group of 6 (Walt Disney, 1953). From the archive of long-time layout artist and Disney director Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998), comes this collection of storyboard prints on two sizes of photographic paper, used during the production of the symphonic theatrical short Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom. This musical comedy debuted on November 10, 1953 with O'Connor serving as art director, retelling the history of music from prehistoric humans through the modern orchestra with four main sounds: brass (toot), woodwinds (whistle), strings (plunk), and percussion (boom). Included are two matching sets of four prints each, with one set's sheets trimmed to approximately 16.5" x 8.5" and mounted to 20" x 10.5" illustration boards while the other's sheets measure much larger at 37" x 19" and are tape-bound along a vertical center fold to mimic an oversized booklet. Both sets of 4 sheets feature storyboard panels numbered 1 - 108 with several including larger or multiple panels per number. Also included in an additional 40" x 20.25" sheet identified as "Toot Whistle Story Sk[etches]" however it appears to be for short Melody which debuted six month prior; both Melody (production code 2452) and Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom (production code 2460) were the only shorts to be released in the proposed Adventures in Music series which starred the memorable Professor Owl. With typical handling and edge wear including age-related toning, fold creases, pin/punched holes, surface wrinkles with minor edge tearing, and light surface wear/debris, overall this musical collection is in Good condition.
