Walt Disney's Donald Duck: 50 Years of Happy Frustration First Edition Hardcover Book Signed by Jack Hannah (Walt Disney/HP Books, 1984). This delightful, out-of-print book, Walt Disney's Donald Duck: 50 Years of Happy Frustration, presents the history of Donald Duck's "life" through the films, comics, merchandise, and other media he appeared in from 1934-1984. Published nearly 40 years ago for the 50th anniversary of Donald's debut in The Wise Little Hen (1934), this book is illustrated throughout in both full color and black and white. The main chapters are titled "The Birth of a Duck Named Donald" (creation); "Donald Himself" (an analysis of Donald and Daisy); "Donald Comes to Life" (animating a cartoon); and "Duckmania" (merchandise). A bibliography is included, and a "Duck Language" page closes out the book with some of the most classic, entertaining Donald one-liners taken directly from a late 1930s Disney Studios internal document. The book is hand-signed on the title page by Jack Hannah (1913-1994), a Donald Duck story artist of the 1930s who became the Disney Studios' primary director of Donald Duck cartoons, having directed more than 50 from the 1940s through the '60s. Hannah was honored as a "Disney Legend" in 1992, and Disney historian Jim Korkis has dubbed him "Donald Duck's Other Daddy." A Howard Lowery Certificate of Authenticity verifying the legitimacy of the signatures is included. The out-of-print book is in a dust jacket with 96 pages, measuring 9" x 11".
