Description
Ernie Bushmiller Nancy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-8-47 (United Feature Syndicate, 1947). Apart from the essentials of Nancy Ritz and Sluggo Smith (not to mention Aunt Fritzi Ritz), Bushmiller played fast-and-loose with his supporting characters. This glorious spread features a variant on wealthy Rollo Haveall, whom Bushmiller had introduced early during the 1940s under the preliminary name of Marmaduke -- but who appears here as merely "that rich boy." Call him what one will, the kid delivers a perfect punchline to a perfectly ironic exercise in easygoing surreal weirdness, Bushmiller-style. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Dimensions, 22.5" x 15". Aside from some staining within the title logo, the selection is in Excellent condition.Auction Info
