Pizzicato Pussycat Drums and Bass Painted Production Background by Hawley Pratt (Warner Brothers, 1955)...
Description
Pizzicato Pussycat Drums and Bass Painted Production Background by Hawley Pratt (Warner Brothers, 1955). Friz Freleng directed this madcap Merrie Melodies short about a cat who discovers a piano-playing mouse and then tries to take credit when owners Mr. and Mrs. Jones walk in on the performance. This original hand-painted 12 field production background can be seen after the cat is revealed to be a phony; in the scene, the cat waits for the bespectacled rodent to leave his mousehole and then chases him past the musical instruments, as seen at about the 5:45 timestamp. Hawley Pratt (1911 - 1999) was the credited background artist for the cartoon. When the mouse hides in the drum kit, the cat uses drumsticks to attack the mouse, only to discover his own talent as a drummer! Soon after, the mouse drags out his toy piano for a jam session! Wow! The gouache on lightweight board is in Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear.Auction Info
