The End of Evangelion Rei Ayanami Production Cel Setup (Gainax, 1997). "Ayanami... Where am I?" "This is an ocean of LCL. The ocean that is the origin of life. A world without A.T. Fields, where the self has lost its shape. A world where you don't know where you end and others begin. An ambiguous world. A world where you are everywhere and nowhere." Shinji Ikari must make a fateful decision for the future of humanity, and Rei Ayanami presents an option in the form of a purgatorial state of existence in which no good or evil exists. Capturing one of the film's most poignant philosophical quandaries, presented is a magnificent original production cel setup featuring Rei Ayanami. Seen at the 1:16:23 mark of The End of Evangelion, this piece has a hand-painted image area of 13" x 6" on the 14" x 9" cels. The cels are numbered A23, B3, and C4 in the upper right corners, and all bear the hand-written notation C.393 at the top edge.
